The Blue-crowned Manakin is a Passeriforme of the family Pipridae.
It measures about 9 cm long. The male has two distinctive plumages depending on the region:
In other areas the plumages are intermediary. The female is olive-green above with a greenish-yellow throat and yellowish belly.
Uncommon to locally common in the lower levels of humid forest and mature secondary woodland. It is inconspicuous and often detected by vocalizations.
Presente na região oeste da Amazônia, estendendo-se para leste até os rios Negro (ao norte do Rio Amazonas) e Madeira (ao sul). Encontrado também na Costa Rica, Panamá, Colômbia, Venezuela, Equador, Peru e Bolívia.
